June 29, 2009—Founding president of Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort leaves to pursue new community building opportunity

TORONTO (June 29, 2009) – Atlific Hotels announces Deb Thorn, founding president, chief operating officer and general manager of Temple Garden Mineral Spa Resort in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is moving on to pursue a new opportunity.

“We would like to thank Deb for the passion and dedication that has driven Temple Gardens to the success it is today,” said Philippe Gadbois, senior vice-president, Atlific Hotels. “Temple Gardens has become a Saskatchewan icon and will remain one, as Atlific and Temple REIT continue to invest in the success and growth of this great property.”

Temple Gardens’ unique story began in 1992 with Thorn and a number of local volunteers each contributing $25 and several years of their time to vigorous campaigning, raising enough capital to open the now award-winning hotel and spa. The property was created and driven by community spirit during a time when the City of Moose Jaw was experiencing an economic downturn. Temple Gardens became the catalyst that revitalized Moose Jaw and its tourism industry. Now owned by Temple REIT and managed by Atlific Hotels, Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort is a 4 ½ star Canada Select award-winning spa resort attracting people from all over the globe to its mineral-rich geo-thermal waters.

“Deb Thorn was instrumental in providing the vision for Temple Gardens,” stated Robert Leoppky, vice president operations, Atlific Hotels. Once named one of Saskatchewan’s “Most Influential Women” by Saskatchewan Business Magazine, Thorn is moving on to become the inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer of the South Central Enterprise Region of the Province of Saskatchewan. “We wish Deb well in this exciting new chapter - an opportunity that will allow her to continue her passion of building communities and developing South Central Saskatchewan” reflected Leoppky.

Atlific Hotels is pleased to announce Ranald Rasmussen as general manager of Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort. Rasmussen previously held the title of director of operations for Temple Gardens where he was an exemplary leader who embodied Atlific’s core values. His extensive background in the hotel industry and team-oriented leadership style make him an asset in leading and supporting the team at Temple Gardens.

Opened in 1996, Temple Gardens began with 69 rooms and 53 employees and has since grown to 179 rooms and over 200 employees. In 2006, Temple Real Estate Investment Trust bought the Resort and appointed Atlific Hotels to manage the property.
